About the Book
Rather than focusing on technical how-tos or fearmongering, Built to Trust reframes security, privacy, and responsible AI as leadership imperatives critical to growth, resilience, and competitive advantage. It equips readers with the mindset, vocabulary, and frameworks they need to lead confidently through scrutiny from customers, investors, regulators, and the media.

About the Author
Darren Gallop
Darren Gallop is a founder, CEO, board director, and trusted advisor. He began his entrepreneurial career in 2005 and built Marcato from ideation to global adoption, powering world-class events including Coachella, Burning Man, X Games, and Just for Laughs, until its successful exit.
Today, Darren is the CEO and co-founder of Carbide Secure, a Canadian cybersecurity company helping businesses of all sizes navigate cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI governance. He serves as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Governance Committee at ISC2, the world's largest cybersecurity certification body, is a NACD Certified Director (NACD.DC), and volunteers with the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Darren isn't arguing that organizations should slow AI adoption until every governance question is answered. At Carbide, he's actively leading the adoption of agentic AI and AI-assisted development — exploring firsthand how organizations can move quickly while maintaining trust.
